Understanding Certificates.

Buying a Natural diamond is always a challenge.                                                                                                 The first and foremost difficulty is to Trust your diamond expert, in other words our company.       This is always a little tricky and the best way to reach this trust is through a conversation by phone, email, or social media. There is a tool that is available to you however to solve this issue, mainly an independent Certificate of the Natural Diamond.

A certificate is basically a “Passport” of a diamond. It describes the Natural Diamond’s characteristics such as the exact measurements, the weight, as well as the cut and purity grade. This by an independent lab that is completely neural to the sale. The advantage is for you as a buyer that you need not rely on what the seller tells you, it is confirmed by a reputable independent lab.

There are 3 main Labs to be considered as a referral for your diamonds:

The GIA (Gemological Institute of America) – America

The HRD (Hoge Raad voor Diamant) – Belgium

The IGI (International gemological Institute) – Belgium

All three are of good reputation and are available on our Site.

GIA – the Gemological Institute of America

Established in 1931, the nonprofit Gemological Institute of America (GIA) is considered by many to be the world’s foremost authority in gemology. GIA’s mission is to ensure the public trust in gems and jewelry by upholding the highest standards of integrity, academics, science, and professionalism through education, research, laboratory services, and instrument development. They where the first to categorize Natural diamonds into colors and purities.

HRD – High council for Diamonds

The Diamond High Council is the officially recognized representative of the Belgium diamond trade and industry. HRD headquarters are located in the Antwerp World Diamond Center (AWDC). The HRD diamond certificate guarantees the authenticity of a Natural Diamond and so rules out the possibility of it being an imitation or a synthetic diamond.

The IGI – International Gemological Institute

The International Gemological Institute is the oldest institute of its kind in Antwerp. Set up in 1975 with labs in New York, Bangkok, Mumbai, and Tokyo. The IGl Diamond Report is essentially a statement attesting to the authenticity of a Natural Diamond, providing a reliable and accurate statement of its identity and grade based on an internationally recognized system.

Laser Inscription

All of our Natural Diamonds are Laser Inscribed. This means that the certificate number of the stone selected is engraved on the girdle of the stone itself by laser. This gives you as a buyer proof that the stone in your jewel or just purchased is actually the same one as the certificate. Furthermore, the certificate is also present in the online database of the Laboratory online for you to confirm.
